Beautiful, wintry Walla Walla, Washington

I only snapped a few photos while at home, and most of it was of the snow. I didn't get any pictures of the family, which I always regret not doing. I just get so lazy, and most of the days we were just lounging around in our lounging clothes. My family wouldn't have appreciated those pictures showing up on this very public blog! So here are my favorite pictures!

Snow accumulation as shown on the carport

Berries covered in snow on neighbor's tree

My favorite shot. I love the contrast between the blue sky and the red berries!

Poor mailman!

I loved these tire tracks in the snow--so perfect

Crazy dangerous icicles on the house

Those same icicles at night

And here's the lovely bruise I have today as a result of trying to put my camera back in it's bag while trying to walk over compact snow in my slouchy, no-traction boots! Why do I have to bruise so easily? Well, it was worth it.

And of course, as frequent readers of this blog know by now, I can't go that long without baking something. So my sister Teresa and I headed to the local Kmart to get some sugar cookie mix. This time it wasn't all about the baking, but the decorating. And I came prepared: wintry cookie cutters, disposable pastry bags, decorating tips, my favorite gel coloring. I even whipped up some royal icing and packed that in the suitcase because my mom doesn't have a stand mixer. And I wasn't about to beat it for 8 minutes with a hand mixer--no thank you! So here are our favorite cookies!

Hope everyone's new year started off great! Here's to an even better year!
