Totally a slacker post...

....but I ♥ this commercial.

Sorry....it's sooo hard keeping up with blogging and keeping up with reading all your wonderful blogs with husband home. Lately he's started commenting (not complaining....yet) on how much time I spend reading blogs. I'm not even posting that often!

I've also been knitting. Hopefully I will get some pictures up soon....as soon as I finish this little cutie that is.

Go hug your pets

I was getting ready to leave work today when one of my co-workers made me watch this video. I'm so glad she left the room because I started crying! I am seriously emotional lately.....get a hold of yourself, Tania! At any rate, this video made me want to hug my Sammy.

Time to work off those tamales and holiday sweets!

I have to say, I'm hurtin' right now. A month and a half of nearly no exercise took it's toll on me yesterday and today! I went for a run yesterday, finishing my usual 2.8 miles. No, wait. I couldn't finish it because my left knee started bugging me. I felt the pain on my lateral knee about 3/4 of the way through. I stopped and walked for a bit and stretched it out a little, but to no avail. I had to finish the loop walking, which is just torture to me. My lungs had a lot more left, but my leg couldn't take it anymore. I think it might be my IT band, which I injured 2 years ago. At least I think it was my IT band. I never saw any sort of doctor and self-diagnosed. I did have that pain walking downhill and down the stairs, though. I don't know what to do! I don't want to quit running, but my body is really against me here! Is there any way I can continue running and eventually accomplish my goal of running a marathon? I saw an orthopedist who did nothing for me, so what's next? A podiatrist? There has to be some way!

Anyways, after my run and a good stretch, of course, I went home and did a whole bunch of side leg lifts, sit-ups, crunches, tricep dips, and a few push ups. My arms are so weak now--I use to be able to do triangle push-ups! All that and I was walking around with sore hips/but today.

Not bad, but then I went to my cardio kickboxing class on the Air Force base. I could barely move after class! The instructor is intense! When we all are getting sloppy with our punches and kicks, she's jumping around and dancing around to the music. She has endless energy! But I need a class like that, because I'm horrible at pushing myself until I can't go anymore. There's this sequence that she does and when she starts it, everyone in class acknowledges it with a groan. On each side, we do side knee lifts while bringing arms down toward the opposite side. Doesn't sound too hard, right? But she has us do 16 facing one corner of the room, rotate, do 16 more facing the next corner and then continue for the rest of the corners. Oh we're not done there! We then go 8 per corner, then 4 per corner, 4 per corner two more times, and then she has us hold it until she makes us stop and switch legs. Then we do that all over again for the other leg. My poor hips and butt! Here's a video of the move I just described. Just ignore the cheesy music and it's the move shown at 2:56.

It's a pretty good video of basic cardio kickboxing moves, but she's so slow compared to my crazy instructor! After the cardio part of the workout, we do arm strengthening and abs. Endless, I tell you! So yeah, I could barely move after all that! I did manage to squeeze in a few pull-ups and dips, though. I'm up to lifting about 80 lbs of my weight. Hopefully one of these days, they'll be unassisted!

I'm skipping out on the running until my knee feels better. I'll be skipping out on the Wednesday night runs for a month, though, because I just signed up for my final cake decorating class! You ready to see more cake decorating action? It just might be all you see of my baking because I don't want junk food hanging out in my house! But then, I can't really go that long without baking. ;)

For your entertainment

So Jon won't miss out and because he's our only baby for now, I've taken to recording Sammy doing various things. Here are a couple of the more entertaining videos (please excuse my knitting mess in the background). I'm such a mean mama!

I seriously need to learn how to do this!

A stitch and a half per second! I wonder if her joints hurt like mine after a marathon knitting session!

Story of my life

Ain't No Sunshine

These two are amazing for their guitar-playing and singing abilities. This is what a loser like me does on a Friday night--waste time on YouTube watching random videos. My favorites are of people (with talent) singing and dancing. This search started out with Eva Cassidy. I just love her song "Songbird." If you've watched Love Actually, then you know what song I'm talking about. I only watch that movie during Christmas and I always rediscover that song and become newly obsessed with it. It is one of the few songs that, alone, moves me to tears, I think it's that beautiful. Anyways, this video popped up because these guys are playing her arrangement for the song, as she covered it in one of her albums.

Slightly inappropriate, but hilarious

I love those SNL digital shorts. I also love how Justin Timberlake keeps popping up on the show. As much as I hated his music while in N'Sync (and I must confess, I love his newest stuff), I totally respect him a lot more now and want to see him more on SNL!

WTF?

Jon is out washing the car right now, and Sammy is at the door waiting for him. Me? I'm just lounging around on the couch, sick as a dog. I had a bad fever last night and a crazy dream that had me stressing over pots and pans and cooking. Not doing too hot here and I still have no voice, but hopefully I'll feel better before we hit the road for Vegas on Friday! Anyways, I'm not doing much here. But I just found this bizarre video while looking for Justin Timberlake's sketch from the last SNL. This guy is good, but I find what he's wearing and how skinny he is to be a little disturbing!

Remember this one?

After that angry post I needed to laugh. This is perhaps the first YouTube video I saw.

The answer that solves all problems

See more Natalie Portman videos at Funny or Die

This would be Jon's response as well. He's such a softie when it comes to dogs!

Keeping on the happy note, we now have a date for R&R! The countdown begins...and so does the rush in perfecting red velvet cake in my yellow ribbon cake pan, maybe losing some weight to give me more room for gaining some when he comes home, and various other jobs around the house. Can I take time off before he gets here to prepare?

Love it

For all you Mac haters out there. I actually discovered this video from my brother, the ultimate Mac hater. I have both a PC and a Mac now so this isn't saying much coming from me. I do hate the Vista OS though! GRRRR!!! Yes, Microsoft, you pushed me to the dark side.

For those of you who couldn't get enough...

...a follow-up video to "The One Semester of Spanish Spanish Love Song." Runawaybox (the guy who posts these vids) left me a comment a while ago to let me know he made the "Second Semester of Spanish Spanish Love Song." It's pretty funny (I especially like the "No leavo" part), but I still think the first one is funnier because it was way more ridiculous. Give this one a try and let me know what you think!

Much more than a party trick...

...although I would like to try this out myself! Got this from a friend from work. Too crazy!

This should put a smile on your face

For those readers who many have not seen this video yet. I think this guy was on GMA or the Today show, both of which I used to watch when I was back in Seattle while I was getting ready for work. They would show brief clips of him dancing in a random part of the world. I also saw him on a daytime talk show, although I don't remember which one. I'm glad there's a compilation of his videos. The music adds just the right touch. I think it shows the beauty of the human race, and watching all the kids dancing with him was really touching! Makes me want to go see the world! Now why didn't he come to Tucson? :D

"One Semester of Spanish" Spanish Love Song

One of my co-workers showed this video to me a long while ago, but when I went to look for it on my own,  I couldn't find it! I just found it on one of my radio station's web pages. I laugh my ass off every time I watch it, because it's mostly true. You only know so much Spanish after just one semester and he uses the most common phrases and words that students learn during this time to formulate a "love song."

My favorite part of the song is when he's counting. Enjoy!

This is what I do when I'm bored

Last night instead of going to bed early, I stayed up and watched youtube videos. I'm still recovering from Monday night, which was spent drinking Malibu/pineapple juice and playing drunken Guitar Hero. I don't know why I got the urge to look up camel spiders, considering I hate all spiders, but that's what I did.....pretty sure that's what I was dreaming about all night because I woke up with a sore jaw (teeth-clenching)! Well, I think this video is hilarious. Had I been that poor solider, I think I would have fainted! Glad to see there's some fun going on over there!

I think I found a new hobby...

I've been obsessed with dance for a while now. I only regret that when I was younger and quicker to learn I had taken dance classes. But I had grown up a shy and quiet child....barely voicing my desires to my parents (I would have taken dance, gymnastics, ice skating...) I took one hip hop class in Seattle at the ASUW and I loved it! Granted, I wasn't very good. People who know me probably can't picture me moving like this:

First of all, I love this song by Madonna. I thought it was a Timbaland song until I saw it on the Ellen Degeneres show (of course she was dancing to it!) So now it's on my myspace profile! One of my goals in life, however unattainable, is to be able to move like the girl in the video above. I don't quite have that pop and lock down! My gym has a hip hop exercise class on Friday evenings--maybe I'll start off there!

Does your phone come with crime deterrent?

I was just reminded of this commercial when I was watching Notes From the Underbelly(hilarious show!). Cooper (Rachel Harris) throws a cell phone at Danny (Michael Weaver) during the episode I just watched, so here is Sprint's commercial from two years ago.....one of my favorites. Roll the clip!

Almost forgot about this video, until I saw it again on another blog! For those of you who missed Jimmy Kimmel last night (and all the other times it was played!

Not much to blog about lately, as my life has been uneventful for the most part. I think we are going to be able to sell the house, however, so this is one piece of good news I can share. The woman has been contacting me because she saw it on forsalebyowner.com. Of course she's been calling me after I signed a contract with Long Realty, and I had to keep telling her to contact my real estate agent. Well, she finally did and made a cash offer on the house, which apparantly minimizes our closing costs. Jon and I will still have to pay some money out of pocket because the offer wasn't high enough to cover all of the real estate agent's commission, but we figured as long as we get rid of the house now, we will be able to save a lot more money in the long run. Otherwise, we will be waiting forever for the offer that we want. This housing slump is really hurting us here.

Well, I have to step into work for a little bit today, and I'm also mailing my first packages out to Jon. They are full of junk food and snacks that he doesn't have access to over there. I know I shouldn't be sending him this crap, but what else can I do for him? He loves this stuff and this is the only way I can spoil him! I've got to do as much for him as I can from half a world away, otherwise I would go crazy here. I guess it's a little bit of guilt for having access to all these wonderful things and living a normal comfortable life while he's over there out of his comfort zone.

I leave with a video from youtube that I found on del.icio.us. When you first enter, it shows you the hotlist of the moment. This video is for sushi aficionados. If you were ever curious about the proper way to enjoy sushi, this video is for you......exaggerated and amusing.
